For a unique and beautiful promotional item, have your text, graphic, or logo sand-carved into the product of your choice. Sand Carving is a laser etching technique used to carve images onto various materials, including glass and ceramic. This technique creates beautifully detailed, three dimensional designs. Sand etching can be used on a variety of promotional items for corporate logos and text applied to awards, ceramic mugs, plaques, vases, and trophies.

Sand carving techniques can be used on a variety of promotional items and corporate products. At Luscan Group, we also fill or highlight our multi-level sand carving designs with a color seal for a customized detail to meet your unique art requirements and further personalize your item. Crystal or glass that is sand-carved will have a frosted look that is most usually highlighted with gold or silver accents.

The first step in the sand carving technique is to create the image outline of your desired design. Our art department offers free consultations with graphic artists that can help you create a unique and professional look. The item to be sand carved is then cleaned and an adhesive is applied to its surface. Next, UV light creates a design template that adheres and hardens a special transfer material. The remaining exposed areas of the product are then masked with paper and tape to keep it dust free.

The second step is the actual sand carving process. Your item is placed in a sand blasting unit and very fine sand is blasted onto the surface of the design template. Finally, the sand blasted item is placed in water to soak away the transfer material and any remaining glue. The end product is a beautiful and detailed, recessed imprint that is similar in appearance to acid etched glass and is durable enough to withstand even the heat and wear of repeated cleanings in the dishwasher.
